Mayor Dean Murdock

Mayor Murdock was born in Richmond, BC, and grew up in Saanich. He proudly attended Royal Oak and Claremont Schools, and is pleased to raise his two children in Saanich, in partnership with his wife. He is an avid coffee-drinker, cyclist, runner, and guitar player.

Prior to his election, Mayor Murdock was a political science instructor at Camosun College, in addition to working for the provincial government. He holds both a Bachelor’s degree and a Masters degree from the University of Victoria.

Prior to Mayor Murdock’s election as Mayor in 2022, he was a three-term Saanich councillor. He holds a number of appointments on the Saanich Council and the Capital Regional District, including the Chair of the Saanich Police Board, the Chair of the Housing Affordability Standing Committee, Director for the Capital Regional District and Hospital Board, and Chair of the CRD Transportation Committee, among others.
